For a private car tour during Kyoto’s fall foliage season, we recommend first selecting one main area and then planning 2 to 3 key stops. For round-trip travel from Osaka, be sure to factor in the intercity travel time when calculating your total travel time. While a private car reduces the need for transfers, it is still subject to traffic congestion, parking issues, and walking distances.

How far along is the autumn foliage in Kyoto for 2026?
As of the date of this update, Kyoto City’s official “Autumn Foliage Bulletin” indicates that the 2026 autumn foliage survey is scheduled to begin on October 30. This does not mean that the entire city has entered the peak viewing period. Tree species, elevation, and weather conditions can affect the timing of the foliage’s peak, so please check the real-time conditions at each attraction before setting out.

How many places can you visit in Kyoto in a day when traveling from Osaka?
We recommend visiting 2 to 3 main attractions and allowing time for lunch, walking after parking, and the return trip to Osaka. The following is a suggested itinerary; it is not a fixed schedule that guarantees you’ll be able to complete everything:
- Toward Lanshan:Osaka Hotel → Stroll and Lunch in Arashiyama → Area Around Kinkaku-ji Temple → Osaka Hotel. Ideal for travelers who want to focus on the bamboo grove and the area around Togetsukyo Bridge on this day.
- Toward Dongshan:Osaka Hotel → Fushimi Inari Taisha → Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the surrounding historic streets → Osaka Hotel. At Fushimi Inari, you can just walk from the entrance to the Senbon Torii section; there’s no need to hike the entire trail.
- Departing from Kyoto City:Once you’ve eliminated the round-trip drive to Osaka, you can choose to head toward Higashiyama or Arashiyama based on your accommodation; if you plan to add more attractions, be sure to check that day’s transportation schedules and opening hours.
During the fall foliage season, it’s not recommended to try to cram Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, Fushimi Inari, and Nara all into a single day. Especially if you want to see the maple leaves at night, you should limit the number of daytime stops.
If there are elderly people or children in our group, will we still have to walk after renting a car?
Yes. Private cars cannot access all approach paths, bamboo groves, and pedestrian streets, nor can we guarantee parking directly at the entrance to attractions. When making a reservation, please specify how long the elderly passengers can walk, whether they use wheelchairs, the number of children, and the amount of luggage you’ll be bringing, so we can determine the best pickup and drop-off locations and select the appropriate vehicle. We recommend visiting one attraction at a time and taking breaks to rest after walking.
Does the 10-hour private car rental include round-trip transportation to and from Osaka and waiting time?
This should be understood in accordance with the pickup and drop-off locations and time calculation rules specified in the order confirmation. If you book a 10-hour package departing from a hotel in Osaka and returning to Osaka at the end of the trip, the total time allocation must include round-trip travel, stops at attractions, and waiting time for meals; it should not be interpreted as providing an additional 10 hours upon arrival in Kyoto. Highway tolls, parking fees, admission fees, and overtime charges must be verified item by item against the service details and quote.
I want to see "Night Maple." What's the best way to go about it?
First, determine the date and time slot for your evening visit, then work backward to figure out your departure time during the day. Avoid visiting too many different areas on the same day; if your hotel is far from the return destination, be sure to confirm the driver’s service hours and arrangements for extended service in advance. Booking a vehicle does not guarantee that you have secured temple admission tickets, nor does it guarantee that you will see the autumn foliage at its peak.
How do I book a private car tour to see the fall foliage in Kyoto?
Please provide the dates, the hotels where you will start and end your trip, the number of adults and children, the number of pieces of luggage, your top 2–3 destinations, and whether you would like to see the fall foliage at night. Longxing International Tourism offers airport transfers, private car rentals, business vehicle services, and itinerary planning in Osaka. Actual arrangements are subject to vehicle availability, order confirmation, and the scope of our operating license.
